how to eat right

I know, I make it sound sooo simple from the page title, and of course I don’t claim to have THE one true secret to eating right. But I’ve been doing this for the last 2 weeks (as of August 23) and I’ve noticed some great results – 5 pounds of weight loss and an inch off my waist which at this point might as well be like a miracle; this is territory I haven’t been in for about 2 years.

So basically here’s the thing: make your eating throughout the day look like a V, so that you’re eating your most at breakfast, a good amount at lunch, and then gradually you taper off as the day goes by. No this is nothing new, I’ve heard before as “Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.”

What has been different for me is that I’m actually doing it seriously and for the moment it’s actually working. And this is after trying counting calories and zigzagging with not a whole lot to show for it. You’ll also hear the big mantra these days which is to eat like 6 small meals paced throughout the day. I’ve tried that too, still doesn’t really work all that effectively for me. But with this, what I’m trying now, it’s been awesome. Yesterday I had cookies with breakfast and a big fat meal of eggs and breakfast potatoes, then for lunch I had some rotisserie chicken with rice and fried eggplant, and then for dinner I had cookies and milk. No joke. I’m also still having snacks between breakfast and lunch and in the afternoon between lunch and dinner, but that’s how it’s been. Big, real meals though, and it’s been working. I’ll report back here in another 2 weeks and see if it’s still working because of course I suspect my body will adapt and then I’ll have to change it up again, but for now I’ve just been loving it. I haven’t had to write anything down or even worry too much about what I’m eating, and I’ve been able to keep eating the things I want.
